DURANT, Okla. – “How to Negotiate Without Giving Away the Pharm” was the topic of a presentation Sunday at the American Association of College of Pharmacy annual meeting in San Antonio, Texas.
Co-presenters were Dr. Will Mawer, attorney and dean of the School of Education & Behavioral Sciences at Southeastern Oklahoma State University, and his daughter, Mindy Ferris, a registered pharmacist and senior vice president of pharmacy operations with Omnicare (a provider of pharmaceutical care for seniors).
The three-hour presentation included a discussion of general negotiating strategies as well as helpful negotiating strategies in the pharmacy industry. The audience of approximately 100 participants included deans and financial officers from pharmacy schools around the country.
"We were honored to be invited to participate in this event," Mawer said. "In addition, we had the opportunity to visit with a number of colleagues, which was beneficial, both to Southeastern and to me professionally. Hopefully, the audience was able to gain some insight from our presentation. The feedback was very positive."
Both Mawer and Ferris are graduates of Ohio Northern University.
