Theatre at SE to host Mooney One-Man Show

Press Release Date: 1-21-2011

Theatre at Southeastern will host Tim Mooney on Monday, Jan. 24, with funding help provided by the Cultural and Scholastic Scholarship Fee. The professional actor/author/director will perform his very own work “Moliere Than Thou” after spending the afternoon in a Master Class with Theatre company members.

Mooney has written his one-man show to introduce the playwright Moliere and his works. On Tim Mooney’s booking website, an explanation of the production "Moliere Than Thou" is given. "Moliere Than Thou" finds Moliere left without a cast, when all of his fellow performers happen to consume "the same sort of shell fish" at one of the local public inns that the company tends to frequent. Rather than actually refund the precious box office income, Moliere offers to perform a "greatest hits" of sorts, and leads the audience (which occasionally participates) through a hilarious succession of favorite speeches that trace his illustrious career. Mooney, himself, plays Moliere, who performs routines from Tartuffe, Don Juan, The Doctor In Spite of Himself, The Precious Young Maidens, The Misanthrope and The School For Wives among others.
