Opera Southeastern presents gala concert on Oct. 5

DURANT, Okla. – Opera Southeastern, a part of the Department of Music at Southeastern Oklahoma State University, will present Opera: A Gala Concert, on Friday, October 5, in the Fine Arts Recital Hall.

The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and there is no admission charge.

“This opera gala will be a celebration of operatic literature through performances of arias, duets, and scenes,” said Jeremy Blackwood, director of opera theatre. ” It is a concert of operatic ‘hits’!”

The performance will include selections from operas such as Le Nozze di Figaro, Die Zauberflöte, and Così fan Tutte by W.A. Mozart, Il Trovatore by Giuseppe Verdi, Les Contes d’Hoffmann by Jacques Offenbach, and Street Scene by Kurt Weill.

Dr. Robert McFadden will serve as accompanist.
