Southeastern biology professor publishes another book

DURANT, Okla. – Prometheus Books has just released the latest book by Dr. Stanley Rice, professor of biology at Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

“Life of Earth: Portrait of a Beautiful, Middle-Aged, Stressed-Out World,” is the story of how biological life has made Earth into such a beautiful planet. Much of its focus is on human adaptations such as altruism, religion, and science. Reviewers have praised its readability and humor.

This is the third book Rice has published while a faculty member at Southeastern, the two previous being “Green Planet: How Plants Keep the Earth Alive,” and “The Encyclopedia of Evolution.”

A graduate of the University of California at Santa Barbara and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Ph.D.), Rice joined the SE faculty in 1998.
