ECU at Southeastern nursing program continues to grow

DURANT, Okla. – The ECU at Southeastern Department of Nursing in Durant continues to grow, expanding its acceptance number from 24 students to 32 students this spring.

According to program officials, the growth is due to the increasing demand for professional baccalaureate-prepared registered nurses in the region.

This is a cooperative program between East Central University (Ada) and Southeastern Oklahoma State University (Durant). The distance education site in Durant for the nursing program was developed and implemented on the Southeastern campus in 2000.

The program goals were to increase not only the number of baccalaureate-prepared registered nurses in the region, but also the number of American Indian baccalaureate-prepared registered nurses in the region. Both of these goals have been accomplished.

Persons interested in a career as a Registered Nurse are encouraged to contact the ECU at Southeastern Department of Nursing at 580-745-3180 for information and advising appointments.
