DURANT, Okla. – Fall classes will begin on Monday, Aug, 20, at Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
In preparation for the beginning of the semester, a number of events are scheduled:

Prior to that, a Faculty Symposium will be held August 16-17, and Freshman Convocation is scheduled for August 19.

DURANT, Okla. – An overflow crowd gathered in Montgomery Auditorium Saturday afternoon as Southeastern Oklahoma State University held Freshman Convocation.
The event officially welcomes new freshmen and their parents to the Southeastern campus. This fall, first-time freshman enrollment at Southeastern is currently up approximately 10% over last fall.
University president Sean Burrage was among those offering remarks, with Southeastern faculty, staff and students also attending the annual event.
Following the 30-minute program, a cookout was held on the front lawn of campus.
Earlier in the summer, new students attended Camp SE, an orientation program.
Fall classes began on Monday, with the Office of Student Life offering a Storm Week of campus activities for students.

“Welcome Week’’ activities will be held Aug. 15-20. Housing and Residence Life Check-in, better known as move-in day, begins Saturday, Aug, 15, in the Glen D. Johnson Student Union. A 4:30 p.m. is Freshman Convocation in Montgomery Auditorium (Morrison Hall). A BBQ meal on the front lawn of campus will follow convocation.
Among the other activities throughout the week are movies, a block party, stickball, merchant/organization fair, and a Savage Storm football scrimmage.

Prior to that, on August 11-12, the fourth annual Southeastern Faculty Symposium is scheduled. The symposium is focused on professional development and offers faculty members the opportunity to advance their knowledge and experience through the exchange of ideas and approaches to teaching, scholarship, and service.
Also, on August 15, Freshman Convocation will be held in Montgomery Auditorium at 4:30 p.m. Southeastern president Sean Burrage and faculty and staff members will attend and welcome new students and their parents to campus.

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern Oklahoma State University will host the 2014 Welcome Week with six days of activities scheduled to greet students.
Michelle Hornbeak, Interim Student Activities Coordinator, said: “I am always excited about Welcome Week. When I was a freshman I remember making new friends, discovering new things about the campus and the cool giveaways.
“This year I have been able to plan and promote the events and I am looking forward to seeing students attend each one.”
