Southeastern Staff Association presents annual awards

The Southeastern Oklahoma State University Staff Association
(SSA) presented a number of awards during its annual luncheon Tuesday.

Southeastern
acting president Dr. Bryon Clark, SSA president Alisha Ridenour, and SSA
historian Jennifer Moore made the presentations at the conclusion of the event.

Special
recognition – the Heart of Southeastern Award – was presented to Penny
Bridwell, Office
Assistant, Student Health Services. This award is not presented annually, but
goes to an individual who has served the SSA and University in an exemplary
manner. Bridwell has been employed in various capacities at Southeastern for 20
years and also been active in the SSA. She has also played a key role in
establishing and maintaining the Southeastern Care Team.

SGA hosts Campus Beautification Forum

DURANT, Okla. – The Southeastern Oklahoma State University Student Government Association (SGA) hosted SE Forecast  – A Forum on Campus Beautification, Tuesday night.   Demetra Wilkerson, SGA president, served as the forum moderator. Panelists included Dr. Larry Minks, Southeastern president; Scott Fairbairn, Southeastern’s landscape architect;  Janie Umsted, representative of the Alumni Association’s Beautification Committee;  Joseph Badan, Chair of the SGA Safety and Beautification Committee; Dr. Tim Patton, Faculty Chair of the University Sustainability Committee; and  Jason Hicks, Southeastern Staff Association president. The event was held in the Fine Arts Recital Hall.

Southeastern Staff Association makes donation to SODA Senior Project

DURANT, Okla. – The Southeastern Staff Association (SSA) held its Fall Luncheon recently. Because of the efforts of the SSA Executive Team, the SSA Hospitality Committee and the campus staff, approximately $615 was raised and donated to the SODA Area Agency on Aging’s Surprise a Senior Project.

The purpose of the Southeastern Staff Association is to enable non-faculty employees to participate effectively in the achievement of the goals of Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

Serving as SSA officers this year are Stephanie Makke, president; Jason Hicks, president-elect; Dana Bell, treasurer; Thomas Wines, secretary; Michael Stout, past-president and historian; Karen Vazquez, professional representative; and Dyanna Bowen, secretarial/clerical representative.
