Musical Arts series presents pianist on Oct. 16

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s Musical Arts Series will present Italian pianist Corrado Greco in concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16.

The performance is scheduled for the Fine Arts Recital Hall. Greco will present a master class for Southeastern and area students at 2 p.m. that same day in the same location.

This program is a part of the Steger-Bass International Artist Series. As part of the Musical Arts Series, the Steger-Bass series is funded by lectureship endowments provided by the families of Ruth Steger and Wanda Bass.

These lectureships are devoted to programs featuring pianists in both solo and collaborative performances. Use of a Steinway concert grand is made possible by a gift from Mrs. Marilyn Comer.

The concert is free and everyone is invited to attend.

Greco earned his piano degree magna cum laude at the age of 19 and also graduated with full marks in composition and electronic music at the Conservatorio “G. Verdi” in Milan. He has won numerous national and international piano competitions and was called in 1989 to represent Italy at the Invitational International Piano Competition in Palm Beach, USA.

He has appeared as soloist in hundreds of concerts for some of the most important Italian institutions. He has also performed in the United States and many other countries.

He has recently been acclaimed for a tour in piano duo with his former maestro and has made several recordings for RAI, the Italian national television and radio broadcasting company.

Greco has been a piano and music technology teacher in several conservatories in Italy and has taught at the “Verdi” Conservatory since 2007.

He has also served as Artistic Director at the University of Insubria in Varese since 2001.
