Dr. Hal Poovey
Assistant Professor

Dr. Hal Poovey is an assistant professor in the department of occupational safety & health at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, OK where he has been a faculty member since 2008. Dr. Poovey received his Bachelor of Science degree in chemical-biology in 1987 from Rhodes College; a Master of Science in Public Health degree with specialization in industrial hygiene from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in 1990; a Doctor of Science degree in industrial hygiene from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in 1998. Dr. Poovey has conducted research on air sampling techniques development and provided support for epidemiology studies for over ten years. He has assisted in the development of sampling devices and analytical techniques for carbon monoxide, chlorine, chlorine dioxide, isocyanates, phosgene, and wood dust. He has worked with a variety sampling methods including passive dosimeters, size selective sampling and dichotomous sampling. Dr. Poovey has presented papers at a number of international, national and regional conferences. Dr. Poovey has published over 20 articles in peer reviewed journals. Dr. Poovey is a board certified industrial hygienist (C6652, 1994) and a board certified safety professional (17736, 2003).
