Outstanding Southeastern Alumni Profiles

Jason & Chasity Carper

Drs. Jason and Chasity Carper, a husband and wife dental team, are the owners and dentists of All About Smiles Dentistry in Durant. They graduated with bachelor’s degrees from Southeastern Oklahoma State University as double majors in biology and chemistry in 1999. They continued their education at the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry in Oklahoma City. Chasity graduated in 2003 and Jason graduated in 2004, both with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.

Chasity graduated high school from Durant, where she and Jason met. Jason attended Durant Schools until he was a sophomore and then moved to Mangum, Oklahoma, where he graduated high school in 1995. Chasity chose to attend college at Southeastern to be close to her family, while Jason chose Southeastern because Durant felt like home to him. The dental doctor duo decided to double major in biology and chemistry, knowing they both wanted to pursue a field in some form of health care.

Upon graduation from Southeastern, Chasity, on a visit to her family dentist, was encouraged to apply to dental school. Jason, after originally having dreams of becoming a physician, realized that path was not in the best interest for him and his family. He enrolled and attended the dental college the following year. After they graduated with their DDS degrees, they decided to open a practice together in their hometown of Durant.

“Starting our own practice in our hometown was always the plan,” Jason said, “We got pretty lucky that a very good dentist was retiring at the same time we wanted to come back and begin our practice.”

The Carpers attribute their success in graduate school to their experiences at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Relationship development, small class sizes, and professors with personal interaction and support, which is not normally the case at larger universities, were important to their success. Both Jason and Chasity also give abundant kudos to the chemistry and biology departments.

Chasity said both departments were “growing experiences for me and my quest for patience in learning new skill.” Overall, the Carper’s recommend Southeastern as a great place to receive a more personalized education, build everlasting relationships and prepare you for your dream career.

The Carpers have four children. The self-proclaimed “Disney gurus” enjoy traveling and planning Disney World vacations in their free time.
