Outstanding Southeastern Alumni Profiles

Milena Vitez

Milena Vitez is a 2017 graduate of Southeastern with a degree in psychology and a health, physical education and recreation (HPER) minor. She is an international student and a native of Split, Croatia.

Vitez chose to attend Southeastern because it is a smaller university, which gave her the opportunity to get to know her professors while engaging in one-on-one discussions. The Croatian native says she loves attending Southeastern because of its small town, community feeling on campus, while also being in close proximity to Oklahoma City and Dallas.

Milena worked with international students in the Office of Admissions and Recruitment and was a member of the Savage Storm Women’s Tennis Team.  Since she was an athlete, full-time student, and had a part-time job, Milena says that sometimes there wasn’t much time for anything else.

She knew hard work and being involved on campus would help her reach her dream of attending graduate school to eventually become a mental health counselor; a dream she is living now as a graduate student at Southeastern.

“I want to be successful, and attending school gives me a feeling of satisfaction,” she said.  “Also, I want to become great in everything I do, so my dreams and goals are the things that push me to go forward.”

“Counseling is my big passion, so I want to also become the best I can in it and get a chance to help people and serve them,” she said. “If I can help others and possibly save somebody- that is important.”
