The Office of Public Information
The Office of Public Information promotes Southeastern Oklahoma State University through news releases and publications, while assisting with the needs and requests of the news media. An emphasis is placed on communicating the many accomplishments and achievements of the University and its students, faculty and staff. Much of this information originates from information provided by faculty and staff. It is the responsibility of the Office of Public Information to develop that information into a news release format that is consistent with the Associated Press news writing style and university procedure.
Our staff will assist departments and individuals desiring news coverage in advance of any activity or event; however, complete information must be received at least 10 working days prior to the scheduled activity or event. Please note that the publication of any news release is up to the discretion of the newspaper editor, not the university. The editor decides if and when, to publish the release.
The Office has photographic facilities and provides photographs of university events and news upon request.
Among the publications produced by the Office of Public Information is the Campus Connection, a monthly newsletter that is accessed via the SOSU website: the SOSU Update, a monthly newsletter; the Annual Report of the University; and the Magnolia, an alumni magazine that is published three times per year.
The Office is staffed by Alan Burton, Director of Public Information; Dan Hoke, Photographer/Graphic Designer; and Harold Harmon, part–time staff writer. The Office of Public Information is located in the Welcome Center (425 University Boulevard.)
