Location of an Object
Equations that describe velocity and acceleration are given below. In all, there are three equations:
va = (vf + vo) / 2
where va is the average velocity, vf is the final velocity, and vo is the initial
velocity;
v = (yf - yo) / t
where yf is the final position, y0 is the initial position, and t is the elapsed time; and
a =( vf - vo )/ t
where a is the average acceleration. Use these three equations to derive the formula
yf = ½at2 + vot + yo
which is the equation that used to describe the location of an object at time t.
