The Department of English, Humanities, and Languages of Southeastern Oklahoma State University is pleased to offer an immersion program in Spanish language and Mexican culture. This three-week program will be held at the Instituto Universitario del Valle de Santiago, located in the historic and charming downtown district of Saltillo, capital city of the northern Mexican state of Coahuila.<\/p>\n
Students will be taught entirely in Spanish by highly qualified Mexican university instructors who will work with the Southeastern representative to assign grades. As an important part of the immersion experience, students from Southeastern will be housed with non-English-speaking Mexican host families.\u00a0 Additional activities will include local sightseeing and two weekend day trips.<\/p>\n

\nSoutheastern students who have completed three semesters of Spanish (SPAN 1113, SPAN 1223 and SPAN 2113).\u00a0 This immersion program is not intended for beginning students of Spanish.<\/p>\n
\n$1,095.\u00a0 This amount includes the cost of housing, meals, books, tuition in Mexico, and all instructional materials. \u00a0This price does not include transportation to and from Mexico; Southeastern tuition and fees; spending money; passport or Mexican entrance visa fees.<\/p>\n
\nThree semester hours credit in SPAN 4163: Saltillo Immersion Spanish.<\/p>\n

\n10:00 am – 11:00 a.m. (Monday – Friday)\u00a0 Instruction in Mexican culture
\n11:00 am – 12:30 p.m. (Monday – Friday)\u00a0 Intensive Conversation
\n4:00 – 6:00 p.m. (Monday – Friday)\u00a0 Learn Mexican Dance, Perform in Skits
\n6:00 – 8:00 p.m.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (Monday, Wednesday, Friday)\u00a0 Tutoring:\u00a0 One-on-one conversational practice with a tutor of your same sex and approximate age
\nOne Saturday day-trip to the town of Parras (cost of meals and expenses additional).
\nOne Saturday excursion to the mountains.<\/p>\n

\nYes.\u00a0 A $100 non-refundable deposit is due by April 1, 2012.\u00a0 The $100 will be credited to the total cost of the program in Mexico.<\/p>\n
\nOf course!\u00a0 Mr. Kim McGehee, Spanish faculty member, has been going to Saltillo every summer for more than 20 years.\u00a0 He will be the on-site Southeastern representative.<\/p>\n
