This accreditation status, in the CACREP specialty area of “Clinical Mental Health Counseling,” was granted for the full 8-year accreditation cycle through October 31, 2020. Our cutting edge program was the first in the state of Oklahoma to earn Clinical Mental Health Counseling accreditation through CACREP. However, as of January 2021 the CMHC program at SE is no longer accredited by CACREP. Currently, neither Oklahoma nor Texas requires that LPC candidates must be graduates of a CACREP accredited program. THE CMHC program at SE will be closely aligned with the CACREP standards that inform professional counselor training and practice. While there is no anticipated negative impact of this change on candidates in the CMHC progam, we plan to pursue accreditation should it become a requirement for professional counselor licensure in Oklahoma or Texas.

In compliance with annual CACREP accreditation requirements, we publish our Program Outcome Report data annually as follows:

During the 2012-2013 academic year, there were 10 graduates of Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) program.
