(mcotter@se.edu or 580-745-2986<\/a>)<\/p>\n Edinburgh, Durham & London- March 15 – 24 , 2024<\/a> Currently-enrolled undergraduate students who receive Pell grants as part of their financial aid package are also eligible to apply for the Gilman Scholarship Program, which provides up to $5000 to pay for study abroad (including the trip to Spain mentioned above). Additional awards are available for students who are dependents of active-duty members of the military. You can learn more about this scholarship here<\/a>. The application portal for this scholarship will open in mid-August; the application deadline is October 6, with awardees informed in early December. Southeastern has had three current students receive this scholarship within the past year, so I very much encourage eligible students to apply. I am the campus advisor for this program, so please reach out to me if you are interested in applying.<\/p>\n Rising seniors, graduate students, and recent graduates are eligible to apply for a number of funded<\/em> opportunities abroad through the Fulbright Student Program (this means that you are given money to go do these things). Applicants must be U.S. citizens, and need to have completed their bachelor\u2019s degree before they begin participation in the program\u2014although you are encouraged to apply during your senior year, for participation after graduation. These programs typically last 8 weeks over the summer, and include an orientation session in Washington, D.C. followed by travel abroad and intensive language school in your host country. The U.S. Department of State covers all costs of this program, which is competitive. You can find out more about this program here<\/a>. You\u00a0 must be a currently enrolled student (graduate or undergraduate) at the time of application, but you may participate in the program the summer after you graduate. Applications for summer 2023 are not yet open<\/strong>; the portal typically opens in early September, and applications are due in early November for summer 2023 programs.
