Fall Checkout \u2013 Returning in the Spring<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Video Instructions on: HOW TO CHECK OUT & RETURN IN THE SPRING<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guidelines for residents who are not staying for winter intersession<\/u> and who plan to return to SE Housing for the Spring semester<\/u>. Residents must be checked out by 4pm on the Friday of Finals week<\/u> to avoid additional charges for improper checkout and\/or winter intersession housing. (If you need to stay past this date\/time, you must submit a Winter Break Housing Request in the Housing Portal.)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before we begin, I want to remind you that your Housing Contract is an Academic Year Contract<\/strong>.  The Fall Semester Housing Contract ends at 4pm on the Friday of Fall Finals Week<\/strong>. The Spring Housing Contract starts on the Thursday afternoon before Spring classes begin.<\/strong> Your Academic Year Housing Contract DOES NOT INCLUDE THE WINTER INTERSESSION<\/strong> between the last day of the Fall Housing Contract and the first day of the Spring Housing Contract.  If you need to stay in the Residence Halls between 4pm on the Friday of Fall Finals Week and Thursday afternoon before Spring classes begin FOR ANY REASON you must request permission to stay on campus and submit a Winter Intersession Housing Request through the Housing Portal (which is a different process in the Housing Portal).<\/u><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, to the steps to properly check out of your Fall Residence Hall Room. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. Open your favorite internet browser and type in <\/strong>www.se.edu\/hrl<\/strong><\/a>.  This will bring you to the home page for Housing and Residence Life. (FYI, you can also reach the page by starting at the SE University main page, selecting the \u201cCurrent Students\u201d tab at the top, then scrolling down to Life on Campus and selecting the tab for Campus Housing and Residence Life.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Scroll down to the middle of the page and select SE Housing Portal<\/strong>.  This is a blue box with white lettering and a yellow arrow.  Once you click the link, you will land on the SE Housing Portal home page. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. From the SE Housing Portal Home Page, log in<\/strong> (located on the yellow banner at the top of the page) using your University credentials (email address and password). <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Once you are logged in, select the \u2018Check Outs and Contract Terminations\u2019 link from the top. (If you do not see this option, use the three-bar menu icon to open the list of options and select this option from the list).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Once the \u2018Check Out and Contract Terminations\u2019 form loads, select \u2018Request Check Out and Return for Spring Semester\u2019, then click on \u2018Save & Continue\u2019. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Once the new page loads, you will see the message \u2018I wish to check out form the following housing assignment\u2019 and you will select the current Fall semester. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Once the \u2018Request Check Out and Return for Spring Semester\u2019 <\/strong>page is loaded, you will need to read through the entire page.\u00a0 Be sure to take note of each step\/instruction<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    • Room must be cleaned and personal belonging tidied.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • All trash must be removed from your room and shared spaces.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • All perishable items must be removed, including those in the refrigerator.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • All mini fridges must be emptied, defrosted, cleaned, and left unplugged with the door open.\n
        \n
      • If you don\u2019t do this, you will be responsible for any reason the fridge defrosts, creating leaks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Take any important items that you may need before spring check-in
        • Medications<\/li><\/ul>\n
            \n
          • Personal items<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Any maintenance issues must be reported using the SE Housing Portal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

            It is important to note that once you have completed the checkout process, you will not be authorized to enter any SE Residence Hall for any reason, and any unauthorized access to your room will be considered a policy violation and will be referred to the conduct officer.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Select the box indicating that it is your intention<\/em> to check out of your hall on or before 4:00pm on the Friday of Finals Week and that you will need to return to the Housing Portal to complete the checkout process when you are actually leaving. <\/u><\/strong>Then, click on \u2018Save\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Finally, once you have everything you need and you are ready to leave, log back into the Housing Portal enter your student ID and select Check Out Now.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Congratulations! You should now know how to check out, and once all of the above steps have been completed, you will have properly checked out of your Fall Room Assignment (or Fall Booking).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            NOW \u2013 PUT IT ON YOUR SCHEDULE TO REMEMBER TO CHECK BACK INTO THE ROOM WHEN YOU RETURN TO CAMPUS AFTER 12PM (NOON) ON THE THURSDAY BEFORE THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS<\/strong>.  You will not need to do anything else to be authorized to be in the SE Residence Hall once you check back into the room, but failing to remember to complete this step could result in additional improper check-in charges.  So, do not forget to do this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
