{"id":760,"date":"2026-04-22T19:55:08","date_gmt":"2026-04-22T19:55:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.se.edu\/hrl\/?page_id=760"},"modified":"2026-04-22T19:55:10","modified_gmt":"2026-04-22T19:55:10","slug":"summer-2026-housing-terms-conditions","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.se.edu\/hrl\/se-housing-contract-terms-conditions\/summer-2026-housing-terms-conditions\/","title":{"rendered":"Summer 2026 Housing Terms &amp; Conditions"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Summer Housing Contract Term is designated as the time between the last day of the Spring Housing Contract, 05\/08\/26 and starting Saturday, 05\/09\/26, and lasting for 12 weeks, ending on Friday, 07\/31\/26, which is 9 days before the start of the Fall Housing Contract Term, with the last day of the Summer Housing Contract Term being Friday, 08\/07\/26.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Rate:<\/strong><ul><li><strong>$960 for private room in a 4BR suite<\/strong> for the full 12 weeks Housing ($80\/week) or<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>$1200 for a private room in a 2BR suite<\/strong> the full 12 weeks of Housing ($100\/week) (<em>NOTE \u2013 There is <u>very limited availability of 2BR suites.)<\/u><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Room Reservation Fee<\/strong><ul><li>Continuing Spring residents (who are\/were contracted to live in Residence Halls for the preceding Spring semester) are not subject to the Room Reservation Fee.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Future Fall residents (who have submitted a Housing Contract for the upcoming Fall semester) are not subject to the Room Reservation Fee.<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Students who have not lived on campus for the previous Spring semester nor submitted a Housing Contract for the upcoming Fall semester are subject to the current Room Reservation Fee, which must be paid prior to receiving a room assignment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Contract Termination<\/strong>: Summer Housing Contracts that are canceled before the end of the 11<sup>th<\/sup> week will be charged a $80 (4BR suite) or $100 (2BR suite) Contract Termination Fee and will be refunded at a rate of $80\/week (4BR suite) or $100\/week (2BR suite) for any unused weeks. (Contract Cancelations that occur during the 12<sup>th<\/sup> week, will be charged for the full contract rate and no contract termination fee will be applied.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Late contracting<\/strong> may occur anytime up to the 10<sup>th<\/sup> week. Late contracts will be pro-rated on a weekly basis. (Early check-ins must be pre-approved in writing by the Director of Housing &amp; Residence Life and will be charged the same weekly rate. We may not be able to accommodate early check-ins.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Housing assignments<\/strong> will be ready no sooner than 05\/01 for contracts submitted before 05\/01 or no sooner than one business day after the contract is submitted for contracts submitted on 05\/01 or later. The priority assignment date is 04\/15. (Note: If you currently live in the designated Summer Housing Community, and you submit your Summer Housing Contract before 04\/15, you will usually be assigned to the same room for the summer.\u00a0 However, if you submit your Summer Housing Contract on or after 04\/15, we may not be able to assign you to the same room, despite it being in the designated summer housing community.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Check-ins<\/strong> will take place from 10am \u2013 12pm &amp; 2pm-4pm Monday \u2013 Thursday and 10am \u2013 11am on Fridays), and will be individually scheduled, in most cases. (NOTE: University Offices close at 12pm on Fridays during the summer.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Summer Relocations<\/strong>: Spring Residents who are continuing as Summer Residents will be consolidated to one location\/hallway in Shearer Hall for the majority of the 12-week session.\u00a0 This usually <strong>requires 2 relocations for continuing spring-summer-fall residents<\/strong>.<ul><li><strong>Summer Assignments will be made after 05\/01<\/strong> and\/or within a week of the end of the Spring Contract Term. <em>(NOTE: Once a Summer Room Assignment is made, it will be visible to you in your account in the Housing Portal<\/em>.)<\/li><\/ul><ul><li><strong>Spring to Summer Resident Student Relocation will take place on Monday, 05\/18\/26 \u2013 Wednesday, 05\/20\/26 during times specified on emails\/posts<\/strong>.\u00a0 Resident students are expected to pick up the key to their Summer Room Assignment, relocate during the designated period, and check out\/return the key to the Spring Room Assignment by 4pm on Wednesday, 05\/20\/26. <strong>(<em><u>NOTE: Students are subject to significant late check-out fees for failure to check out by the deadline<\/u><\/em>.)<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Summer to Fall student relocation will take place on Tuesday, 07\/28\/26 \u2013 Thursday, 07\/30\/26.<\/strong><ul><li>Residents may obtain the key to their Fall Room Assignment starting at 10:00am on Tuesday, 07\/28\/26 and<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>must be checked out of the Summer Room Assignment by 4pm on Thursday, 07\/30\/26. Keys must be picked up and returned to the Housing &amp; Residence Life Office during normal business hours. Additional information will be distributed by email and posted. Summer residents are advised to <strong>PLAN WITH THESE DATES IN MIND, as <u>there are significant late check-out fees for <\/u><\/strong>students who fail to move out\/check out by the specified dates\/time.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Resident <strong><em>Students must plan accordingly<\/em><\/strong> and relocate during the specified dates.<strong>\u00a0 <\/strong>Resident Students may be reminded by email (and\/or postings in social media @SOSUHRL on FB &amp; Instagram) of the relocation check-in\/check-out dates and times, but i<strong>t is the student\u2019s responsibility to note these dates and plan accordingly.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Resident Students who fail to relocate to their summer or fall assignment by the specified date are subject to a <strong>$50\/day late relocation fee<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>End of Summer Intersession:<\/strong> The period from the end of the Summer Housing Contract Term (07\/31\/26) and the start of the Fall Housing Contract Term (8\/10\/26) <strong>is NOT covered by this contract<\/strong>. Continuing Summer to Fall Resident Students who meet the following criteria will not be charged for this period of housing.<ul><li>Active Summer Housing Contract prior to the 10<sup>th<\/sup> week of the summer.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Active Fall Housing Contract with AY Housing Contract submitted, and Room Reservation Fee paid, where applicable, prior to the 10<sup>th<\/sup> week of the summer.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Relocated to Fall Housing Room Assignment by the specified deadline (time\/date). (Relocating includes checking into the Fall Room Assignment and out of the Summer Room Assignment and returning the key to Summer Room Assignment by the deadline.)<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Enrolled for the Fall Semester by the 10<sup>th<\/sup> week of the Summer Housing Contract Term.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>No policy violations during the Summer Housing Contract Term\/and during the Intersession period before the start of the Fall Semester.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Students who do not meet these criteria will be subject to additional Intersession Housing Fees and may require advanced written authorization.<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><em>Any summer residents who do not meet the above criteria must check out on or before 07\/31\/26 unless they have <u>written authorization<\/u> from the DHRL.\u00a0 Individuals who fail to comply will be subject to a <u>$75\/day late check-out fee<\/u><\/em><\/strong><em>.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Summer Meal Service is modified and may not be offered throughout the entire summer and\/or on weekends\/holidays<\/strong>.<ul><li><strong>Caf\u00e9:<\/strong> Dates\/Hours TBD. Typically, the Caf\u00e9 will be serving Sunday dinner, Monday \u2013 Wednesday Breakfast\/Lunch\/Dinner and Thursday Breakfast\/Lunch. For most of June and for 2 weeks of July.\u00a0 <em>Service Dates will be available no later than 05\/01.<\/em><\/li><\/ul><ul><li><strong>Einstein Bros. Bagels (EBB<\/strong>) will be open most days during breakfast and lunchtime (refer to their posted schedule).<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Meal swipes are primarily used in the Caf\u00e9 but can be used for designated selections in Einstein Bros. Bagels.\u00a0 Thunderbucks are primarily used in EBB but may also be used in the Caf\u00e9.\u00a0 <strong>Summer meal plans are non-refundable once added<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Summer resident students who are contracted to move into the halls on or before June 25<sup>th<\/sup> are required to purchase a Summer Use Only 25 Meal Block Plan and $100 Thunderbucks.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Summer students who are contracted to move on campus after June 25<sup>th<\/sup> will be required to purchase $100 Thunderbucks (for $90). Some students may opt to purchase the 25 Summer Meal Block Plan instead of or in addition to the required $100 Thunderbucks.<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Summer Block Plans &amp; Thunderbucks will expire on 07\/31, and any remaining balance will be forfeited.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>All other Terms and Conditions of the current Academic Year SE Housing Contract, SE Resident Student Handbook, and University Code of Conduct\/Student Handbook apply throughout the entire duration of the Summer Housing Contract Term and the Intersession between the end of the Summer Housing Contract Term and the start of the Fall Housing Contract Term.
