Participating in a learning community gives students the opportunity to connect with other students with similar interests, classes, and goals, and may assist in developing interest or study groups, mentoring, and greater satisfaction with the college experience. These communities may also have the opportunity for targeted programs supporting their interests, majors, or lifestyles.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>ROOMS NOT AVAILABLE FOR EARLY MOVE-IN<\/strong> (For the Fall \u201925 Semester, these locations are not available to move in prior to 8\/11\/25. Do not select these rooms if you will need\/want to move in earlier than this date.: <strong>Shearer Hall 1<sup>st<\/sup> South (102 \u2013 115) and half of 2<sup>nd<\/sup> South (209-215) are not available for early move-in prior to 8\/11\/25, <\/strong>unless you are a summer resident who is currently assigned to one of these rooms.\u00a0 This means that anyone who plans to move in before 8\/11\/25 must make a different room selection.<\/p>\n<p><strong>H<\/strong><strong>ealthy Halls<\/strong> \u2013 Are you committed to living (or starting a life of) healthy choices?\u00a0 The Healthy Halls Community is open to students who are interested in committing to activities supporting wellness and positive lifestyles. Students in these communities are committed to alcohol, tobacco, and other drug-free behaviors. Programming options may be made available to support wellness and positive lifestyles. <u>Healthy Halls is designated for the 2nd\u00a0floor of Choctaw Hall.<\/u><\/p>\n<p><strong>LAN Livin\u2019<\/strong>\u2013 Designed for driven students actively involved in or aspiring to competitive esports, this community supports players in reaching their peak performance. Live and collaborate with fellow competitors who share a commitment to practice, strategy, and success in the esports arena. The Lan livin\u2019 community is housed on the <u>4<sup>th<\/sup> floor of Choctaw Hall<\/u>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Life Sciences &amp; Pre-Health Community<\/strong> \u2013 Ideal for students in Biology, Chemistry, and all Pre-Health\/Pre-Nursing programs. Immerse yourself in a community of peers tackling the same core science curriculum. This RLC facilitates natural connections for collaborative study and mutual support, helping you thrive in your academic pursuits. This community is designated for the <u>2<sup>nd<\/sup> floor of Chickasaw Hall. <\/u><\/p>\n<p><strong>Future Aviators of America <\/strong>(Aviation Community)\u00a0The goal of academically clustered communities is to house students with similar academic interests and classes together, facilitating study groups and themed programs to support this major and career aspiration. The Aviation Community is restricted to students with an aviation major (including professional pilot and aviation management). The Aviation community is housed on the\u00a0<u>7<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0floor of Choctaw Hall<\/u>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Music Majors &amp; Band Community<\/strong>\u00a0is an open option aimed at Band Members and music majors. This community is traditionally housed on the\u00a0<u>7<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0floor of Chickasaw Hall<\/u>. Themed residential communities provide an opportunity for students with similar interests and classes to live together, sharing similar schedules and activities, and facilitating study groups and themed programs to support this major and career aspirations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>FRESHMEN ONLY COMMUNITIES<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Freshmen Only Halls<\/strong>: Halls reserved for Freshmen (with 30 hours or less) only. (Designated \u2018Freshmen Halls\u2019 will be opened to upper class students if there are not enough Freshmen students who apply to live in these communities.)\n<ul>\n<li>Chickasaw Hall: 4<sup>th<\/sup> floor and<\/li>\n<li>Shearer Hall 3<sup>nd <\/sup>South (301 \u2013 315)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Freshmen PRESIDENT\u2019S LEADERSHIP CLASS (PLC<\/strong>)<br \/>\nThe Freshmen PLC class is housed in North Hall, along with other first year student programs, including the Freshmen Honors and other Freshmen communities. PLC is traditionally housed on the\u00a0<u>1<sup>st <\/sup>floor of North Hall<\/u>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Freshmen HONORS COMMUNITY<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Freshmen Honors community is housed in North Hall, along with other first year student programs, including the Freshmen PLC and other Freshmen Communities. The Freshmen Honors Community is housed on the\u00a0<u>3<sup>rd<\/sup>floor of North Hall.<\/u><\/li>\n<li><strong>Freshmen JOHN MASSEY LEADERSHIP SCHOLAR COMMUNITY<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Students accepted in the John Massey Leadership Scholar program are housed together in North Hall, with other members of the JMLS community, and other Freshmen Communities. More information on the JMLS program is available at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.se.edu\/john-massey-leadership-scholars\/\">https:\/\/www.se.edu\/john-massey-leadership-scholars\/<\/a>. The JMLS Community is housed on the\u00a0<u>2<sup>nd<\/sup>\u00a0floor of North Hall<\/u>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>8-Person \u201cThemed\u201d Community<\/strong><br \/>\nLocated in Shearer Hall, the 8-Person Community is open to any group of 8 students with a similar unifying interest (Greek Organization, Upper class honors students, team sports, etc.). These communities will be assigned only when 8 contracts are submitted requesting this option. Priority is given to upper class students. The 8-person community spaces are designated for Shearer Hall.\u00a0<u>Contact HRL<\/u>\u00a0if you have a group that is interested in reserving an 8-person community.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Individual Choice Community<\/strong><br \/>\nThese are communities which are not restricted by sex. Students requesting Individual Choice Housing are subject to additional terms and conditions.\u00a0<u>Contact HRL<\/u>\u00a0if you are interested in reserving an Individual Choice Housing community.<\/p>\n<p><em>*NOTE: Specific floor designations are subject to change and will be made available prior to the start of the Room\/Roommate Reservation Process.
