{"id":103,"date":"2019-05-22T13:14:46","date_gmt":"2019-05-22T13:14:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.se.edu\/human-resources\/?page_id=103"},"modified":"2023-08-15T19:09:40","modified_gmt":"2023-08-15T19:09:40","slug":"student-positions","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.se.edu\/human-resources\/student-positions\/","title":{"rendered":"On-Campus Student Employment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Southeastern Oklahoma State University offers On-Campus employment to hundreds of students each semester utilizing our <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.se.edu\/careers\/handshake\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Handshake portal<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the many services that the Career Management Center (CMC) provides is assistance with finding On-Campus Student employment.\u00a0\u00a0Work funds and opportunities are available to students in the form of a Federal College Work-Study or University Regular Work Student Employment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This type of employment opportunity is convenient for students due to several factors:\u00a0 Proximity to campus, flexible scheduling, and the opportunity to socially network with all departments on campus.\u00a0 In addition to Regular Work Employment, CMC regularly receives job announcements from the community.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CMC has implemented new guidelines to submit the On-Campus Student Employment application completely online through the Handshake portal.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">STEP 1 &#8211; Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>To be eligible to work on campus, students <span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #ff0000;\"><b>MUST<\/b><\/span> complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).\u00a0 Before completing the online application, you need to know whether you qualify for University Regular Work Employment or Federal College Work-Study.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>University Regular Work Employment<\/strong> \u2013 provides part-time employment for students enrolled at Southeastern.\u00a0 Students are allowed to work up to 29 hours a week (amount of hours will be dependent on departmental budgets).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Federal College Work-Study (FCWS)<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 provides part-time employment for students who are enrolled at least half-time and demonstrate financial need. The maximum amount a recipient can earn under this federal program is determined by his\/her financial need and availability of funds.\u00a0 To be eligible, you must fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).\n<ul>\n<li>After filing for FAFSA, you can check Self-Service Financial Aid under \u201cMy Awards\u201d to see if you have been awarded FCWS by the Financial Aid Office. If your financial aid file is complete and you are NOT awarded FCWS, you can contact the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.se.edu\/financial-aid\/\">Financial Aid Office<\/a>\u00a0to see if you qualify.<\/li>\n<li>You must be awarded work-study to hold a work-study position!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">STEP 2 &#8211; Activate your Handshake Account!<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you have not already, <strong>ACTIVE YOUR HANDSHAKE ACCOUNT<\/strong>! Visit <a href=\"https:\/\/se.joinhandshake.com\/login?ref=events-search\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.joinhandhsake.com<\/a> and create an account using your STUDENT email.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">STEP 3 &#8211; Search Handshake for On-Campus Student Employment<\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New On-Campus Student positions will begin to be posted prior to each semester. Federal Work Study Eligible students will be able to view and apply for positions throughout the semester.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Open positions on campus may be search two different ways:<\/p>\n<ol style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>Click JOBS \u2013 Click <strong>On-Campus<\/strong> filter \u2013 scroll through open positions OR<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Employers<\/strong> \u2013 Search <strong>Southeastern Oklahoma State University On-Campus Employment <\/strong>&#8211; Look for \u2018Jobs at Southeastern Oklahoma State University On \u2013 Campus Employment\u2019 box on the right side of the page \u2013 Click <strong>See All <\/strong>\u2013 Or click on job title to go to a specific opening<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">**Jobs you are interested in and want to \u2018keep an eye on\u2019 can be bookmarked so they appear first on your home page. **<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">STEP 4 &#8211; Apply for On-Campus Employment<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><a class=\"c-btn--alt c-btn\" style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/se.joinhandshake.com\/login?ref=events-search\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Apply &#8211; Student Employment Application\u00a0<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>TO APPLY: <\/strong>Click the <strong>Apply <\/strong>button. You will be required to upload a completed student employment application.\u00a0 Some offices may also require a resume and\/or other documents. Handshake will send you information to the office\/ supervisor that is hiring, who will then contact you regarding next steps. You will also receive a confirmation email that your application was received from Handshake and if another student was hired for the position, so check our email often.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once you\u2019ve verified the type of work you are eligible for, you are ready to complete the online Student Employment Application below.
