Note:<\/strong> All the participants will receive diplomas and critique sheets with comments from each judge. Only the 1st<\/sup> Prize winners will perform at the award ceremony, which will take place after the competition ends. High school seniors participating in the Texoma Piano Competition may elect to have their competition performance serve as their college audition and can request a free masterclass with a piano faculty from Southeastern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ELIGIBILITY<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The piano competition is open to all pianists, ages 6-18, who reside or study in Oklahoma and Texas. Previous First Prize winners of the Texoma Piano Competition are not eligible to compete again in the same category. They can compete in a higher category if they meet the age requirements. Students who currently study or have previously studied with a member of the judging panel may participate for critique only and are not eligible for awards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Due to copyright laws, all entrants must provide original music sheet(s) and two photocopies for the adjudicator(s). Entrants without an original score will be permitted to perform for critique only. A monitor may examine all music prior to the performance of each entrant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CATEGORIES<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Category A<\/strong> (ages 6 to 8): maximum 3 minutes<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Category B<\/strong> (ages 9 to 11): maximum 5 minutes<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Category C <\/strong>(ages 12 to 14): maximum 7 minutes<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Category D <\/strong>(ages 15 and 16): maximum 12 minutes<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Category E <\/strong>(ages 17 and 18): maximum 15 minutes<\/p>\n\n\n\n

REPERTOIRE<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

All the pianists will have to perform at least one piece by memory and should not exceed the allotted maximum time for each category. One movement of a sonata or a selection of short pieces part of a larger work are acceptable. Please omit repeats in sonata movements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The schedule for each category will be posted on the university\u2019s website (www.se.edu\/music\/texoma-piano-competition\/<\/a>) on Monday, April 20, 2026. A detailed schedule with performance times and instructions for the day, will be emailed to each teacher and applicant on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
