Homecoming Invitation

From President David Whitlock

Dear Southeastern Alumni, Students, and Friends,

Homecoming is one of Southeastern’s most cherished traditions, bringing together generations of alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends to celebrate the spirit and history of our university.

This year’s Homecoming weekend offers numerous opportunities to reconnect and celebrate, including the Whang Bang Golf Tournament, Legacy Speaker Series presentations by Ann Holloway and John Aldridge, the Home Economics Dedication and Brunch, the Aerospace Sciences Institute Open House, the Distinguished Alumni Awards Banquet, and Saturday’s Tailgate Alley festivities. The celebration will culminate with the Heritage Game, featuring a special pre-game ceremony at 1:30 p.m. and kickoff at 2:00 p.m.

A meaningful part of this year’s Homecoming celebration is the Heritage Game, during which the football team will wear commemorative helmet decals featuring logos from different eras of Southeastern’s history. These symbols are being recognized as part of the university’s historical journey and are intended to honor the generations of students, alumni, faculty, staff, and supporters whose contributions have shaped Southeastern’s legacy.

In planning this celebration, Southeastern sought and received guidance and support from both the Chickasaw Nation and the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma to help ensure this recognition reflects respect, understanding, and appreciation for our region’s history and diverse heritage.

This year’s Homecoming also marks the final Homecoming game in Southeastern’s current stadium. As we prepare for an exciting future, this milestone provides a unique opportunity to reflect on the memories, achievements, and traditions that have unfolded here over the years while honoring those who helped build Southeastern into the institution it is today.

I hope you’ll make plans to join us for this unforgettable Homecoming weekend. Together, we’ll celebrate our shared history, recognize those who have shaped our university, and look ahead to an exciting future for Southeastern.

Rise Here.

David W. Whitlock, President
Southeastern Oklahoma State University
