Graduation Application Process
If you are completing all degree requirements this semester, follow the steps below to apply for graduation.
1. Confirm You Are Eligible to Graduate
- Be enrolled in your final semester for the degree you intend to complete.
- Confirm with your advisor that you are on track to complete all coursework and degree requirements before applying.
2. Apply for Graduation in Colleague Self Service
- Log into Colleague Self Service.
- Complete the Graduation Application.
- Pay the $50 graduation application fee (this posts to your student account immediately upon submission).
- Contact your advisor(s) to ensure your Major and Minor Clearance Form(s) are submitted.
Tip: Watch your student email for notification when the graduation application opens.
Applying early helps ensure your name is included in commencement communications and printed program materials.
3. Apply Before the Deadline
- Graduation applications must be submitted by the published deadline for your graduating term.
- Students who do not apply by the deadline:
- May not be included in the printed Commencement Program.
- May not be considered for degree conferral until the following semester.
4. Confirm Your Information
After submitting your application:
- You will receive a confirmation email to your student email account.
- Applications are reviewed in the order received. You can expect an approval or denial decision within approximately 3 weeks.
- Update your mailing address to ensure your diploma is sent to the correct location (diplomas are mailed approximately 6–8 weeks after degree conferral).
5. Participate in Commencement (Optional)
To walk in the ceremony:
- Order your Cap, Gown and Class Ring (SE Bookstore or Herff Jones).
- Apply before the deadline to receive communication from Candid Color Systems regarding graduation photography.
Important: You do not have to participate in the commencement ceremony to graduate; however, you must submit a graduation application in order for your degree to be awarded.

- Go to your Self Service Homepage | Click to access Self Service
- Click GRADUATION OVERVIEW (here you can view and submit a graduation application)
- Click the APPLY BUTTON next to the correct program.
If the program you see is not correct, please contact registrar@se.edu BEFORE YOU APPLY - Complete the application information and then click the SUBMIT BUTTON
*Note: Do NOT put any special characters in your name for the diploma- this could cause your name to be misspelled.*
