Southeastern Oklahoma State University will be closed through Wednesday, January 28, in the interest of health and safety of students, faculty, and staff with continuing winter weather conditions. Essential services will be provided to residential students on campus, but other academic and business functions will be closed. Online and remote learning classes will proceed as scheduled. This closure applies to the Durant and McCurtain County campuses. Other satellite facilities will follow local guidance.

Service isn’t just a resumé line or a networking strategy; it’s how we strengthen our campus and our community. When students show up to tutor a child, package food, clean a park, or support a local nonprofit’s event, they practice empathy, accountability, and teamwork. Those habits shape character, build trust, and create real social good. Yes, service sharpens professional skills and opens doors, but its deepest value is simple: people helping people, on purpose.
