Coronavirus Monitoring Update

The latest situation summary from the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on the Coronavirus and COVID-19 may be found here.  The CDC states that Coronavirus is spread by close contact with someone who has the illness who coughs or sneezes.  Precautions limiting your exposure to the virus are the same as those against the spread of flu.

Academics – Southeastern will continue to evaluate academic deadlines and course completions as the need arises.  We will stay in touch with our students and work with them to find alternative ways to meet their course credits if the need arises.

Travel – The university will be making decisions regarding official travel as the need arises.  We encourage all faculty, staff, and students to consider the risks with approaching travel over Spring Break and consult the CDC advisory page and health notices page for guidance.

Precautions by SE Student Health Services – If you exhibit signs of infection within 14 days of travel to a country with a global health emergency, please call ahead to SE Student Health Services, (580)745-2988, or your primary care provider before showing up to be treated.

Student Support – If you are concerned about family or friends in affected areas, we welcome you to reach out to the SE Counseling Center, (580)745-2988, or to other members of the campus community. We want to help alleviate anxiety that may occur from lack of communication and fear of infection.  Some helpful tips may be found through the APA.

Emergency Management – In the event of a public health threat with significant impact on public safety, the Bryan County Health Department will assist the university with coordination of plans to help keep our campus safe.
