Function:  The Academic Appeals Committee will serve as an appeals board upon receipt of written requests from faculty or students who seek to have grades or records altered. The committee will also act on appeals of students who are on academic probation or who have been suspended for academic reasons. The decisions of the Academic Appeals Committee will be final. Membership:  The Academic Appeals Committee will consist of ten members. The Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs will serve as an ex-officio, non-voting member, and act as a liaison to the committee. The faculty chair and Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs will work together to coordinate the ongoing activities of the committee. Eight faculty members, two from the School of Business, two from the School of Education and Behavioral Sciences, and four from the School of Arts and Sciences will be appointed by the Faculty Senate for three-year staggered terms. Two students of upper-division or graduate standing will be appointed by the President to serve one-year terms. (APPM 3.5)
