Incoming Freshman

Scholarship award notifications are sent to the student’s Southeastern email in late Spring for upcoming year. Applications received after the priority deadlines may not be considered for all scholarship programs and will be considered only if funds remain available.

Automatic Scholarships

There are four automatic scholarships available to Southeastern’s new Oklahoma-resident freshmen. No application is required for these scholarships. All students who match the qualifications will be eligible to receive them. 

Automatic Scholarships do not stack with Scholar Programs scholarships (i.e., Honors Program, PLC, JMLS, and Parsons) or State Scholarships (Oklahoma Rising Scholars and Regional Baccalaureate Scholarship). In addition, you must be admitted, enrolled full-time, and have your ACT/SAT scores on file at SE by the beginning of the first semester of attendance. To be considered full-time you must be enrolled in at least 12 hours per semester; can be for Full Term, Term 1, or Term 2, but must be enrolled full-time by Add/Drop date of the intended semester.

Renewal Process: 

Automatic Scholarships are renewable for multiple semesters. To renew these scholarships each term, students must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA and full-time enrollment.

Valedictorian/Salutatorian

Amount: up to $1,250 per semester tuition waiver; considering all other scholarships
Eligibility: Oklahoma resident. Ranked 1st or 2nd in your high school graduating class as stated on your official high school transcript
Duration: Per semester for a total of 8 semesters. 

*This scholarship is not stackable with Academic Excellence or Stronger Storm.*

Academic Excellence 

  • Amount: up to $1,000 per semester; considering all other scholarships.
  • Eligibility: ACT Superscore of 23 or higher, or the SAT equivalent.
  • Duration: Per semester for a total of 8 semesters.

This scholarship is not stackable with Valedictorian/Salutatorian or Stronger Storm.

Oklahoma Rising Scholars Award

The Oklahoma Rising Scholars Award (formerly Academic Scholars Program), established by the state Legislature and governor in 1988 and operated by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, provides scholarships to academically outstanding students who attend an Oklahoma college or university.

Rising Scholars receive a scholarship to help cover the cost of room, board, tuition, books and incidental fees for up to eight semesters.The actual value of the scholarship varies based on the institution the scholar chooses to attend.

Oklahoma Rising Scholar Institutional Nominee Scholarship

  • Number offered: Up to 7
  • Amount: $3,200 cash/year and full tuition
  • Eligibility: Oklahoma resident. Achieve one of the following:
          • Minimum 30 on ACT or SAT equivalent
          • Minimum 3.8 GPA and either top 4% or rank of #1 or #2 in graduating class
          • Minimum 3.8 GPA and 28 ACT or SAT equivalent
  • Duration: Per semester for a total of 8 semesters.

Regional University Baccalaureate Scholarship

This scholarship enables 11 participating public universities to provide up to four years of scholarship support to academically-promising Oklahoma students enrolled in a baccalaureate program.

  • Number offered: Up to 15
  • Amount: $3,500 cash/year and full tuition
  • Eligibility: Oklahoma resident. Minimum 30 on the ACT ore SAT equivalent a minimum 3.5 unweighted GPA.
  • Duration: Per semester for a total of 8 semesters.

Honors Program

The SE Honors Program is dedicated to helping students succeed academically, professionally, and personally. Through a rigorous liberal arts curriculum, students are encouraged to explore diverse perspectives, think critically, and deepen their understanding of their own culture as well as the cultures of others. Students interested in joining the Honors Program are encouraged to learn more about the opportunities, challenges, and experiences it offers.

  • Number Offered: Approximately 30 per year
  • Amount: $1,500 to $2,500 per semester
  • Eligibility: ACT Superscore of 25+ or SAT equivalent, or 3.5+ unweighted HS GPA to be considered. All students must submit a ACT or SAT Score.
  • Duration: Per semester for a total of 8 semesters.

John Massey Leadership Scholars Program (JMLS)

Established in 2022 with a gift from the Massey Family Foundation, the John Massey Leadership Scholars Program offers students an opportunity to prepare for lives of leadership, service, and purpose and begins with the selection of students who have demonstrated their potential for academic success, leadership, and impact.

  • Number Offered: 10 per year
  • Amount: $5,000 (Per semester for a total of 8 semesters) & Full Room & Board (North Hall for 2 semesters).
  • Eligibility: Applicants will be chosen according to their leadership ability, extracurricular activities, and the embodiment of the characteristics John Massey was known for during his life: gratitude, resilience, integrity and tenacity. Students pursuing any academic major are encouraged to apply through the General Scholarship Application. *Additional materials will be required to complete your application
  • Duration: Per semester for a total of 8 semesters.

Parson’s Scholarship

Established by a perpetual endowment from the estate of Dr. David L. “Chock” Parsons, the Parsons Scholar designation is the most prestigious scholarship offered by Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

  • Number Offered: 5 per year
  • Amount: Full tuition & Fees + $1660 toward Room and Board + $1,500 yearly book allowance.
  • Eligibility: ACT Superscore of 25+ or SAT equivalent, or 3.5+ unweighted HS GPA to be considered. All students must submit a ACT or SAT Score.
  • Duration: Per semester for a total of 8 semesters.

President’s Leadership Class (PLC)

The President’s Leadership Class (PLC), is one of Southeastern’s premier scholarship programs for new freshmen. Get to know the current PLC program and discover for yourself the wonderful opportunities awaiting you in the President’s Leadership Class.

  • Number Offered: Approximately 20 per year
  • Amount: $1,500
  • Eligibility: Minimum 3.0 unweighted GPA and 20+ ACT. All students must submit ACT or SAT score.
  • Duration: Per semester for a total of 8 semesters.

New Out-Of-State Freshman Open Close

Automatic Scholarships

All Out-Of-State students receive a 100% waiver for out-of-state non-resident tuition while eligible to enroll at SE. In-State/Resident tuition and fees still apply. This scholarship varies in amount and is applicable to all semesters – fall, spring, and summer.

There is one competitive automatic scholarship for out-of-state students. No application is required for this scholarship. Meeting minimum test score requirements does not guarantee scholarship award. Priority consideration will be given to highest achieving admitted students.
