Southeastern Oklahoma State University will be closed through Wednesday, January 28, in the interest of health and safety of students, faculty, and staff with continuing winter weather conditions. Essential services will be provided to residential students on campus, but other academic and business functions will be closed. Online and remote learning classes will proceed as scheduled. This closure applies to the Durant and McCurtain County campuses. Other satellite facilities will follow local guidance.

VA Education Benefits – Frequently Asked Questions

When Will I Receive My VA Payment?

This payment is sent to you directly and can take 7 to 10 business days after you verify your enrollment for the month. 

To avoid delays:

  • Enroll early
  • Submit your Confirmation of Enrollment form before the semester begins
  • Verify your enrollment by email, text, or phone

Can VA Pay for my Courses?

Non-degree seeking students
VA only pays for courses that are part of an approved degree plan. If you are an undecided major, VA will only cover General Education requirements.

Retaking a course with a “C” or better
VA does not pay to retake courses completed with a passing grade (A, B, C, or D), unless your degree program requires a higher grade.

Retaking a failed course
VA will pay to repeat a course if you received an “F” and need to earn credit or improve your GPA or you withdrew from the course and didn’t receive credit.

Graduate leveling courses
VA does not cover courses offered through third-party providers. Southeastern does not retain or accept credit for these courses.

What Happens If I Do Not Submit the Confirmation of Enrollment Form?

Failure to submit the form may delay your VA payments, including tuition and monthly housing allowances.

Can I Charge My Books at the Campus Bookstore?

Only students receiving Veteran Readiness and Employment (VR&E) benefits under Chapter 31 are eligible to charge books at the Campus Bookstore.

How Do I Add, Drop, or Withdraw from Courses?

You can make schedule changes through Colleague Self-Service or by contacting the Registrar’s Office at registrar@se.edu.

Note:
Any schedule change must be reported to your School Certifying Official (SCO) to avoid delays or issues with future enrollment and payments. You may email, veterans@se.edu, or phone (580)745-2174 to report these changes.

Can I Use Hazlewood Act Benefits at Southeastern?

No. The Hazelwood Act is a State of Texas benefit and is only available at Texas-based colleges and universities.
