Shakespearean Festival announces 2010 schedule

DURANT, Okla. – The 2010 season of the Oklahoma Shakespearean Festival has been announced by producing director Riley Risso.

The summer season will present "An Evening with Paul B. Crook" as the opening performance. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, June 18 and 19, in the Visual and Performing Arts Center (VPAC) and tickets are priced at $10.

"Lend Me a Tenor" is this year's Dinner Theatre production with performances in the VPAC at 6:30 p.m. July 10, 13 and 16. Tickets are priced at $25 with dinner included.

The Richard Rogers Musical, "Two by Two," a story about Noah and his family and the building of the ark, will be performed in Montgomery Auditorium at 2 p.m. July 11, and 7:30 p.m. July 14 and 17 with tickets priced at $15.

The new performance space in the remodeled former Activity Center, on Montgomery Drive across the road from the VPAC, will be the location of Shakespeare's "Taming of the Shrew" with performances at 7:30 p.m. July 9 and 15, and 2 p.m. on July 18. Tickets are priced at $10.

The Children's Theatre will be performing "Aladdin" in Montgomery Auditorium with show times set for 7 p.m. June 25, plus 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on June 26 and 27. Tickets are priced at $7. Teen Theatre will present pre-show performances at 6:30 each evening.

Auditions for Children's Theatre and Teen Theatre will be in the former Activity Center from 4-6 p.m. March 5 and 9 a.m.-noon on March 6.

All children age five and older are welcome to attend the Children's Theatre auditions. Teen Theatre tryouts are for ages 13-18.

The Children's Theatre Workshop (CTW) and Teen Theatre will meet from 1-3 p.m. each weekday from June 1-25.

Workshop tuition ($120) includes more than 40 hours of singing, dancing, and acting training, as well as an OSF T-shirt. A discount is available to families with more than one child participating in the workshops. Scholarships are available through the Adopt-An-Angel program.
