Welcome to the Educational Instruction and Leadership Department at Southeastern Oklahoma State University where we prepare educators who are “Professionals for the 21st Century: Competent, Committed, and Ethical.”
The Department of Educational Instruction and Leadership provides undergraduate education courses that lead to teacher certification in a number of areas spanning PK-12 education. The Elementary Education and Special Education programs are housed exclusively in our department. Programs leading to certification in art, English/Language Arts, mathematics, music, physical education, science, social studies, are also offered.
Two graduate programs are offered by our department. The Master of Education in Reading leads to certification as a reading specialist in Oklahoma and the Master of Education in School Administration prepares students for certification as a principal in Oklahoma.
The Department of Educational Instruction and Leadership is currently experiencing growth in the number of students it serves as course offerings are increased at Southeastern’s Extension Campuses at the Ardmore Higher Education Center, Grayson County College, Eastern Oklahoma State College McAlester Campus, and Southeastern Oklahoma State University McCurtain County Campus.
