DURANT, Okla. – Longtime Denison (Texas) attorney W. Lawrence "Larry" Evans has announced plans to donate his law library to the criminal justice program at Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

Evans, who has been in private practice in Denison since 1980, announced his retirement recently, although he plans to stay active in the community.

"We are deeply honored to receive this gift from Larry Evans," said Dr. William Mawer, Dean of the School of Education & Behavioral Sciences. "For 31 years, he has been a practicing attorney in Denison, and during that time, he has been a strong supporter of the community. This donation is just another example of his giving back to the community. Our criminal justice students and faculty will benefit greatly from this gift."

Evans graduated from Texas Christian University in 1971 and from Baylor University (J.D.) in 1973. He has served as an attorney mediator since 1990, and is a member of the State Bar of Texas, Texas Bar Foundation, Grayson County Bar Association, and the Association of Attorney-Mediators.

Community activities include service with Waples United Methodist Church, American Bank of Texas, Texoma Medical Center, Denison Industrial Foundation, Denison Chamber of Commerce, Denison Development Alliance, and the Business and Industrial Corporation of Denison, Inc.
