DURANT, Okla. – Dr. Jon Reid, a professor of psychology and counseling at Southeastern Oklahoma State University, has received the Association for Death Education and Counseling (ADEC) Service Award for 2019.

The award is in recognition of Reid’s accomplishments and dedication to the field of thanatology — death and dying. He has been a member of ADEC since 1995 and served in a number of leadership capacities.

The award was presented at the association’s annual conference earlier this month in Atlanta.

In addition, Reid recently received the Southeastern Faculty Senate Lifetime Achievement Award.

Reid also serves as coordinator of the clinical mental health counseling program at Southeastern, where he has been faculty member since 1993.

He holds a Ph.D. from Texas Woman’s University, a master’s from Southwestern Theological Seminary, and a bachelor’s from Midwestern State University in his hometown of Wichita Falls, Texas.
