Super Saturday draws a crowd to campus

The Academic Fair allowed prospective students to visit with Southeastern faculty members.

DURANT, Okla. – An estimated 500 junior high and high
school students and parents attended “Super Saturday’’ activities at
Southeastern Oklahoma State University this weekend.

This year’s
activities included the Oklahoma Science
Olympiad, Vocal Music auditions, Theatre auditions, choral competition, Honors
scholarship competition, and President’s Leadership Class scholarship
competition.

Southeastern president Sean Burrage welcomed the students to campus Saturday.

“In terms of attendance, this is one of the biggest events
we have on campus all year,’’ said Southeastern president Sean Burrage, who
spent the day welcoming groups and visiting one-on-one with students and
parents. “This is a great way for

us to
showcase what the University has to offer. And the event seems to grow and
expand every year.’’

Also, an Academic Department Fair was held in the Glen D.
Johnson Student Union. During this time, faculty members were available to
visit with prospective students.

The Oklahoma Science Olympiad featured a number of events.

In addition, the Southeastern Office of Admissions and
Recruitment offered campus tours for visitors.

Students from as far away as Virginia and Amarillo, Texas,
participated in the activities.

Super Saturday scheduled for February 23

DURANT,
Okla. –
“Super Saturday’’ – one of the biggest events of the year on
campus – will be held February 23 at Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

Last year, some
600 junior high and high school students and parents were in attendance.

This year’s
activities include the Oklahoma Science
Olympiad, Vocal Music auditions, Theatre auditions, Honors scholarship
competition, and President’s Leadership Class scholarship competition.

Also, an Academic Department Fair is scheduled for 11 a.m.
to 1 p.m. in the Glen D. Johnson Student Union. During this time, faculty
members will be available to visit with prospective students.

Activities will be held at various venues across campus.

In addition, the Southeastern Office of Admissions and
Recruitment will be on hand to offer campus tours for visitors.

That afternoon will also be a busy one for Southeastern
athletics on campus, and visitors are encouraged to attend the following games:

  • Baseball
    doubleheader against Southwestern Oklahoma, 1 p.m., The Ballpark in Durant
  • Women’s
    basketball vs. Arkansas-Monticello, 1 p.m., Bloomer Sullivan Arena
  • Men’s
    basketball vs. Arkansas-Monticello, 3 p.m., Bloomer Sullivan Arena

“Super Saturday’’ set for February 24 at Southeastern

DURANT, Okla. – An estimated 1,000 students, parents, and school officials are expected to be on the campus of Southeastern Oklahoma State University February 24 for an event known as “Super Saturday.’’

On that day, a number of activities will be taking place on campus, including the State Science Olympiad competition, which is expected to attract 300 high school and middle school students.

Also on that day, the Southeastern President’s Leadership Class, Honors Program, Music, and Theater departments will be holding auditions for high school students interested in earning scholarships to attend the University.

Throughout the day, students and other visitors will have the opportunity to go on campus tours and lunch will be available.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., an Academic Department Fair is scheduled in the Glen D. Johnson Student Union. During this time, faculty members will be available to provide information about their specific programs.

The tours, fair, and lunch will be in the Glen D. Johnson Student Union.

The Savage Storm basketball and baseball teams will also have games on campus in the afternoon.

“This event provides a wonderful opportunity for prospective Southeastern  students and their parents to learn more about what the University has to offer,’’ said Southeastern president Sean Burrage. “Our faculty, staff and current students look forward to visiting with all our visitors and will be glad to answer any questions.’’
