Outstanding Southeastern Alumni Profiles

Leslie Chandler

Leslie Chandler is passionate about the impact Southeastern Oklahoma State University has had on her professional life. As the Facility Safety Manager at Baylor Scott and White Health, the proud alumna heaps praise on the school that led her to a successful and rewarding career in the field of safety management.

“The networking opportunities I received at Southeastern have continued to serve me well into my career,” Chandler said.

She graduated from Latta High School in 2006, and, after receiving a President’s Leadership Class Scholarship, made the decision to attend Southeastern, majoring in occupational safety and health. She felt her chosen major would provide career stability and the opportunity to directly affect the well being of people who were not even aware of her efforts. In the fall of 2010, Chandler graduated from Southeastern with a bachelor’s degree and the following summer graduated once more from her alma mater with a degree in advertising and public relations.

After graduation, Chandler pursued a job in her chosen field and has been coordinating all aspects of safety at Baylor Scott and White Health for almost five years. Chandler has the opportunity to work with a multitude of departments, which she says keeps things interesting. She advises and oversees the custodial areas of safety, including emergency management, epidemiology and construction.

“I would highly recommend attending SE for any prospective students,” Chandler said when asked what she would tell a potential student considering attending Southeastern. “The opportunities for campus involvement are incredible, and the friendships you make will last a lifetime.”

The safety professional is currently pursuing her graduate degree in business administration with an emphasis in health care administration. In her free time, which is rare, Chandler is avid about playing sports, fishing and hunting.
