Robert Pierce named Top General Chemistry Student for 2021

September 7, 2021

The Department of Chemistry, Computer, and Physical Sciences has named Robert Pierce as the recipient of the 2021 Top General Chemistry Student Award at Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

He was selected among all students taking General Chemistry II (CHEM 1415) based on his performance on the American Chemical Society’s Examinations Institute’s exam on General Chemistry, which is used nationally as an instrument to assess student learning in the field. Pierce’s performance topped 40 other students enrolled in CHEM 1415 in Spring 2021.

He is a native of Durant and graduate of Durant High School. Pierce is a non-traditional student who is returning to Southeastern to finish his pre-requisites for physical therapy school. He works full-time as a critical care paramedic.

Pierce’s goal is to obtain his doctorate in physical therapy (DPT) and work at a Level 1 trauma center in the ICU/acute care setting.

The award includes a certificate of recognition and a $150 Amazon gift card.
