- Southeastern students attend Women in Aviation International Conference
With continued poor travel conditions and cold temperatures, Southeastern Oklahoma State University will be closed through Friday, January 30, in the interest of health and safety of students, faculty, and staff. Essential services will be provided to residential students on campus, but other academic and business functions will be closed. Online and remote learning classes will proceed as scheduled. This closure applies to the Durant and McCurtain County campuses. Other satellite facilities will follow local guidance.
Representatives from Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s Women in Aviation chapter attended the 2022 Women in Aviation International (WAI) Conference, held recently in Nashville, Tennessee.
This annual international conference provides an opportunity for individuals and companies within the aviation industry to come together and network. Fourteen Southeastern students attended in hopes of making life-long connections in the industry. In addition, SE was one of only two Oklahoma universities to attend the conference, and its team of fourteen students and sponsors was one of the largest collegiate chapters present.
WAI has more than 15,000 members worldwide and 150-plus chapters. Southeastern’s chapter, which includes 20 active members, is dedicated to advancing the professional skills of its members and providing educational and networking opportunities to its students.
With this mission, they are often engaged in events such as Girls in Aviation Day, touring airline training centers, visiting aviation museums, and attending the WAI Conference.
