“It Starts Now’’ was the theme of the ninth annual 8th Grade Career Discovery Day at Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
Some 600 area students attended the event Thursday, which was sponsored by Southeastern Oklahoma State University and the Southern Workforce Board.

Eighth grade students had the chance to explore career fields and other opportunities for their futures. Each student participated in breakout sessions that explored the specifics, work responsibilities, and requirements/qualifications for different occupations from 21 various career fields.
Among the fields represented were the arts, oil/gas, healthcare, architect-engineering, law enforcement, fire-EMT, military, science, aviation, manufacturing, education, and legal.
