DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern Oklahoma State University was recently ranked No. 2 nationally in a listing of the “Most Affordable Online Colleges for Master’s in School Counseling Degrees” by www.Best-Universities.net.

With a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in School Counseling degree from Southeastern, graduates can expand their impact on the lives of students. This accredited master’s program builds on the student’s classroom teaching experience. Students learn theories and strategies needed to serve as a guidance counselor, career advisor and more.
This 100% online degree examines child development and assessment, as well as diversity and psychopathology. Courses are accelerated and flexible, so students can complete their master’s online while continuing to work full time. A teaching certificate is required to enroll in this program.
The next application due date for the M.Ed. in School Counseling is October 2, with classes beginning on October 16.
Students in this program will gain the confidence to work with and counsel children/adolescents as well as parents and teachers; the ability to plan a comprehensive school counseling program including assessment, guidance, development and counseling clinical skills; an understanding of contemporary and alternative counseling theories and models to conceptualize client presentation to appropriate counseling interventions; a thorough understanding of the nature and needs of persons at all developmental levels and in diverse cultural contexts with an emphasis on facilitating optimal development and wellness over a lifespan; and excellent clinical training skills and an understanding of research methods.
