- Southeastern announces schedule of events for Native November

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern Oklahoma State University has announced the schedule of events for “Native November,” which coincides with the celebration of Native American Heritage Month in November.
Events begin on Thursday, November 2, when the Native American Student Association hosts a free lunch for Southeastern students, faculty, and staff, at the Wesley Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma’s annual powwow and Choctaw Day take place at the Choctaw Cultural Center from November 3-5. Details are available at www.ChoctawCulturalCenter.com.
The Southeastern cafeteria will feature Native American cuisine on Monday, November 6 for its lunch serving. The Semple Family Museum of Native American Art will have an open house on November 7 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. with Frybread Express available.
On Wednesday, November 8, there will be a stickball exhibition at Paul Laird Field at 7 p.m.
“Rock Your Mocs Day” will take place on Wednesday, November 15, as well as a pottery-making event in the Student Union Loft.
The highlight of the month will be Southeastern’s 15th Biennial Native American Symposium on Friday, November 17. Events will be presented both in-person and in online formats, with more information released in the coming days.
The month wraps up with an Indian Taco fundraiser on November 29, and a Native American T-Shirt Giveaway at the basketball doubleheader against Southern Nazarene on November 30.
