Over 600+ students from a number of area schools, plus several volunteers and speakers (many of which are SE alumni) will be on Southeastern’s campus Thursday, January 4, 2024, for the 8th Grade Career Discovery Day. Among the sponsors of the 10th annual event are Southeastern Oklahoma State University and the Southern Workforce Board. “It Starts Now’’ is the theme of the event, a day for eighth grade students to explore career fields and other opportunities for their futures. Each student will participate in breakout sessions that explore the specifics, work responsibilities, and requirements/qualifications for different occupations from 21 various career fields. Many SE alumni look forward to returning to campus as guest speakers each year to educate students about their career options and the companies for which they work.
