Spring semester for Musical Arts Series concludes with jazz from Brian Piper Quintet on Saturday

April 10, 2024

The spring semester program for the Musical Arts Series at Southeastern Oklahoma State University will wrap up this Saturday, April 13, with the Brian Piper Quintet, a jazz group based out of Dallas, Texas.

The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the Fine Arts Recital Hall. Admission is free of charge.

The quintet consists of Brian Piper on piano, Rosana Eckert performing vocals, Steve Barnes on drums, Brian Mulholland on bass, and Chris McGuire on reeds and trumpet.

As the quintet is a jazz unit, the performance will feature wide-ranging talents and different styles and tempos from the group. Quintet leader Piper is not just a jazz pianist – he is the quintessential “go-to” guy in virtually any musical context. He is enjoying a long career in commercial and popular music as a studio keyboardist with thousands of radio, television, and film credits. In this arena Brian is an accomplished producer, conductor, composer, arranger, and orchestrator. He is also a studio singer, singing for advertising campaigns, record projects, and films. Brian plays regularly in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and travels the world touring, producing and performing. He was also recently appointed as the pops pianist for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra.
