Safety Olympics and Career Fair to be held at Southeastern on Feb. 27-28
February 24, 2025
Southeastern Oklahoma State University will host the annual Safety Olympics and Safety Career Fair on the Durant campus on Thursday, February 27 and Friday, February 28.
The Safety Olympics challenges the knowledge and skills of top safety college students by placing them in multiple safety events over a two-day period.
The event’s website at www.SE.edu/safetyolympics has the full schedule of events and competitions, as well as information on the Thursday career fair.
The career fair will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, February 27, in the Hallie McKinney Ballroom, with over 35 potential employers attending.
This event is particularly important to Southeastern, as the Occupational Health and Safety major is one of the majors with the highest enrollment, sending qualified professionals into a high-demand profession in the state of Oklahoma and the region.
This year’s edition of the Safety Olympics will see six teams competing:
- Southeastern Oklahoma State
- University of Central Missouri (Warrensburg, Mo.)
- Collin College (Collin County, Texas)
- Montana Technical University (Butte, Mont.)
- Oklahoma State University (Stillwater, Okla.)
- Pittsburg State University (Pittsburg, Kans.)
The teams will compete in six events: Accident Investigation, Hazard Identification, Training Presentation, Safety Culture Presentation, Safety Innovation Presentation, and Safety Jeopardy.
Placement awards will be announced at a banquet at 1 p.m. on Friday, February 28, at the Massey Building (200 W. Main St.). Montana Tech was the champion of the 2024 Safety Olympics and will return to defend its title.
