Southeastern’s second annual Giving Day to be held March 6

February 25, 2025

Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s office of advancement and the Southeastern Foundation have announced the University’s second annual Giving Day – Building Legacy – will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025.

This Giving Day is a concentrated, 24-hour fundraising event providing the Southeastern community the opportunity to lend financial support to scholarships, academic units, clubs, athletics teams, student enrichment programs, and other initiatives at the University.

“I am so excited for what’s in store on this Giving Day at Southeastern,” said Dr. Thomas W. Newsom, Southeastern President. “Our inaugural Giving Day in 2024 was a great success, and I know that the momentum we’ve built since then will result in an even larger success in 2025.”

The dedicated website at givingday.SE.edu will be the central hub for donations, with live tracking of donations and the day’s giving total, as well as information on matching gifts, tax implications, and more.

“Giving Day at Southeastern got off to a great start in 2024 and I’m certain our alumni and friends of Southeastern will build on that this year,” said SE director of advancement Mark Webb. “Everyone involved with Southeastern knows about the legacy life-changing opportunities our University provides to students. Donations on Giving Day will help us continue, expand, and create opportunities for both current and future Southeastern students.”

The selection of March 6 as Giving Day is significant to the University’s history, as it is the date in 1909 which the Second Oklahoma State Legislature approved an act designating Durant as the location for a “normal school” to serve the southeastern counties of Oklahoma. Now, 115 years later with a current enrollment of over 6,000 students, Southeastern Oklahoma State University is still serving the counties of southeastern Oklahoma, as well as students from dozens of states and countries around the world.

The inaugural SE Giving Day in 2024 raised over $134,000 – a mark which will certainly be eclipsed in 2025.

More information on matching funds, challenge funds, and more is available on the Giving Day website.
