For decades, students at Southeastern Oklahoma State University have celebrated at Springfest as the semester winds down. Next week, the cornerstone event of student life will be celebrated for the 40th time from Monday, April 7 through Thursday, April 10.
Springfest was first held in 1984 and has been held every year except 2020. While the games themselves and the teams have changed over the decades, one constant has remained.
Mud.

The mud volleyball tournament has been one of the event’s highlights ever since the beginning, and this year’s tournament will be held on Wednesday, April 9, with the tug-of-war competition held between volleyball matches.
Springfest is sponsored by the Office of Student Life and begins with Lunch on the Lawn on Monday, with a block party that night. Tuesday highlights a student tailgate at the baseball game vs. East Central, with a talent show wrapping events up on Thursday night.
Southeastern would also invite alumni to share their Springfest photos and memories on the Facebook page. Memories of Springfest past are always on display in the Glen D. Johnson Student Union, as each year’s Springfest t-shirt is hung in the hallway.
