Southeastern Oklahoma State University senior Torrie Taylor has been awarded the Walter O. Mason Scholarship by the Southwest Association of Student Assistance Programs (SWASAP).
Taylor, a social studies education major from Tishomingo, is this year’s Oklahoman recipient of the scholarship, which was established in 1988 to honor the legacy of Walter O. Mason, Jr.
Through the generous commitment of SWASAP, the Mason Foundation provides an annual scholarship to support TRIO participants from the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas who have demonstrated a commitment to education and a strong desire for academic success.
“We are pleased to assist Torrie in securing this scholarship through our regional TRIO organization. Torrie is very deserving of these funds and will go on to make a lasting impact in the field of education,” said Darla Ellett, executive director of Collegiate TRIO Programs at Southeastern.
