- Dr. Stewart Mayers named to Education Law Association Board of Directors
DURANT, Okla. – Dr. Stewart Mayers, chair of the Department of Educational Instruction and Leadership and director of teacher education at Southeastern Oklahoma State University, has been named to the Board of Directors of the Education Law Association.
Mayers will serve a three-year term on the board.
Founded in 1954 following the U.S. Supreme Court’s Brown v. Board of Education decision, the Education Law Association is the nation’s leading organization dedicated to research, scholarship and professional development in education law. Its members include school attorneys, higher education faculty and K-12 administrators.
Mayers earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Baylor University, a master’s degree in mathematics education from Southeastern Oklahoma State University and a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Georgia.
He has co-authored four books, including Peopled Leadership: Growing People and Transforming Organizations, and has published scholarship on school law, social media, transgender rights and principal preparation. He is also the author of the Education Law Association monograph Social Media, Public Schools, and the Law.
