Southeastern alumna Dr. Sara Carpenter named ASCA Ethics Committee Chair

DURANT, Okla. – Dr. Sara Carpenter, a 2011 graduate of Southeastern Oklahoma State University, has been named the 2026-27 American School Counselor Association (ASCA) Ethics Committee chair.

Carpenter earned her bachelor’s degree from Southeastern before receiving a Master of Education in School Counseling. She currently is a school counselor at Ladue Middle School in St. Louis, Mo.

“Southeastern didn’t just prepare me for my dream job as a school counselor; it laid the foundation to equip me to lead in the field”, said Carpenter. “Learning from active practitioners at SE gave me the practical insight and strong ethical foundation I rely on every day, especially now as I serve alongside others to advance the profession’s commitment to all students.”

The ASCA Ethics Committee focuses on the development of content, resources and presentations that advance the association’s commitment to professional ethics.

Jill Cook, ASCA executive director stated “Dr. Carpenter has been a valuable member of the ASCA Ethics Committee for the past two years, and we look forward to working with her in her new leadership role.”
