- Cherokee Communications donates $50,000 to support Montgomery Auditorium renovations
Cherokee Communications has donated $50,000 to Southeastern Oklahoma State University to support renovations to Montgomery Auditorium, located inside historic Morrison Hall.
The donation will help fund improvements to the auditorium, an important space within one of Southeastern’s most historic campus buildings. The investment reflects a shared commitment to preserving Southeastern’s heritage while supporting opportunities for future generations of students to rise.
Morrison Hall was the first building constructed on Southeastern’s campus in 1910. Built on the site of Dr. J.L. Schuler’s peach orchard, the building had an original construction cost of $94,385 and has served generations of Southeastern students, faculty and staff.
Montgomery Auditorium was also recognized by BusinessRate as a Top Auditorium in Oklahoma for 2026, based on Google reviews and publicly available customer feedback. The recognition highlights the auditorium’s positive reputation and the appreciation of those who have experienced the historic venue.
Jenny Sanchez, president of Cherokee Communications, leads the family-owned telecommunications company headquartered in Calera, Oklahoma. Under her leadership, the company has expanded broadband, fiber, television and communications services throughout southeastern Oklahoma, helping strengthen connectivity and support economic development across the region.
Sanchez’s accomplishments in business leadership and commitment to community investment reflect the important role women play in helping southeastern Oklahoma continue to grow and thrive.
Sanchez, who attended Southeastern before completing her degree at William Woods University, has served in leadership roles with the Durant Area Chamber of Commerce and participated in various civic initiatives throughout the region.
Through her leadership and Cherokee Communications’ generosity, Sanchez is helping Southeastern preserve its history while investing in the spaces and opportunities that will inspire rising generations of students.
